The Dangers Of Careless Driving

No longer is driving without due care and attention an acceptable defense. Momentary lapses of attention are not allowed as an excuse now, and improper driving is an offense that can land you in jail!

Organisations such as MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) have been lobbying for this change in the law for a long time and now different parts of the country have varying levels of punishments for the offences depending on the severity of the results of the careless driving.

What is surprising is that people dont really seem to take driving without due care and attention very seriously. In fact, people seem to side with the offenders and advise them on how to avoid their punishment. In an online forum we found one case where a man was charged for wheel-spinning his car on gravel by going very fast and kicking up lots of dust and gravel. The officer that charged him says in his report that there was a petrol pump nearby and it was open, and so could have caused a large accident and many potential injuries. The question he put on the forum was that if he could prove that the petrol pump was closed would that benefit his case in any way. And surprisingly, dozens of people replied with advice about how to get out of the charge and how to prove that something in the officers report was wrong!

Each year, thousands of people get maimed or killed due to negligent drivers, and still we dont sit up and take notice. Tens of thousands of people lose their licenses each year (at least temporarily) owing to reckless driving, and most of them are back on the streets driving without a valid license! The funny thing is that even if we know about it, we dont really pull the guy up. Instead, we offer advice as to how he can continue to escape the law; and that is what causes most of the offences on our highways.

Though driving without due care and attention is a relatively lower ranking offense when compared to drunk driving or cell phone driving, it still is one of the biggest causes for accidents, and needs to be addressed with greater authority.

The Early Days Of Demolition Compared To Now

Demolishing a building has become an art! Earlier, it was only deconstruction that was considered to be the realm of experts and demolitions could be done by anyone! However, with time, and with a terrific increase in buildings all around, choosing a demolition expert is among the key decisions to be taken for someone looking to remove a building and start construction afresh.

The first skyscrapers came into existence around 100 years ago and with that (as you can imagine) many more tall buildings popped up, and so in the years that followed and the advances in building technique, there was a lot of tearing down to be done. The demolition crews developed expertise and skill in the field of demolition and so demolition specialists came about. It may be hard to believe, but in the early days of demolition, every building was taken down by hand. Even buildings with ten floors or more were entirely dismantled using handheld tools.

Today, however, there are some amazing pieces of equipment that have been invented for the sole purpose of demolition of a building, and they cut down the time originally taken for demolition by more than half! One of the most popular pieces of machinery in the genre is the rotational hydraulic shears. This piece of machinery has made several old technologies obsolete, and is even used in mining. Other methods such as flame cutting and silenced rock breakers are also in regular use, and depending on the assignment at hand, different equipments can be brought in.

Here’s a bit of trivia for you; the largest building that was ever demolished was torn down in 1968 after being erect for 60 years. It was the Singer Building New York City and was 47 floors high!

Still there are a lot of break-through innovations going on in the field of demolition and in time, the process is only going to get smoother and faster as it edges towards perfection.

Cover For Your Caravan

Keeping your caravan secure is obviously of the utmost importance as it far easier for a thief to steal a caravan than a car. If you plan on leaving your caravan unattended for a long time then as you can imagine, the risk for your insurance provider will be large.

There are several things that you can do to reduce your caravan insurance, you can use proven security devices to disable the tow hitch in order to make it harder for your caravan to be stolen. You can also make sure that your caravan is stored within a locked compound as that will also help to protect it.

The cost of caravan insurance can differ greatly from different companies, and so it would be well worth while to speak to an expert in caravan insurance as there may well be some simple extra security measures you could take that would reduce your insurance premium significantly.

It is also important that you take security precautions when you are using your caravan. You will need to be careful that you have insurance cover for any possessions that you will be leaving in the caravan. Obviously it is not a good idea to leave valuables on display, or items of significant value in the caravan at all.

You will need to make sure that any specific items of value have been specified to the insurance providers. There may well be an item value limit in your policy, and so you will be required to itemise your valuables. However not all polices include this so be sure to ask if yours does.

Make sure you specify to your insurance provider exactly what you will be carrying with you in order to ensure that everything is covered and you will not be in for any nasty shocks if you need to claim.

The Rising Need For Packaging

Over the last ten years or so, the delivery industry has grown massively in size. This is because more and more businesses are running just in time deliveries and many companies are now shifting a lot of their focus to online selling, delivery requirements have sky-rocketed all over the western world, and this has had a huge effect on the packaging industry.

The amount of packaging now used is many times that of how much was used in the mid 90s. There has been a consistent growth year on year since the revolution of the Internet and even during this current recession, more and more buyers are abandoning the high street and looking for bargains online meaning packaging demand is higher still.

There are many suppliers available, but it does depend upon what you intend to transport as to what you best packaging solution will be. Some suppliers will not insist on minimum order values, while others will need you to order 50 or 100 of each box type as a minimum. If you are a smaller business, delivering a variety of products in small volumes then you will prefer to use a supplier that doesn’t limit your minimum order size. It is of course important to minimise your outlay on packaging as it will all reflect in your bottom line.

Many companies will print your company’s name or logo on the box at your request. This can be an easy way of getting some cheap additional advertising to not only the recipient of the box, but also whomever the box comes into contact with for the rest of its life.

The cost of your packaging will of course depend on what type of box you need, whether you need a single or double walled box will be a determining factor in the price. Double walled boxes are obviously a little more expensive than the single walled, but they are more suitable for containing heavier items. You should also consider what inner packaging you will use to prevent any damage during transportation such as bubble wrap or loose fill.
